Must Read: Tips when choosing a Consultant!

Here’s how you can simplify the task of choosing a consultant.

Choosing a consultant can often be a tricky task. In our day to day lives, we are sure to have experienced this several times without giving it much thought;  such as choosing our phone provider, car model and even our insurance companies. However when it comes to businesses, choosing a consultant is often a long and formal process where the end decision can be critical for your business depending on your choice.

If you’re looking for a consultant, here are some of our tips to guide you through to select the consultant best suited for your needs.

  1. Below are some pointers that you could look into to make sure your selected consultant is experienced.
  • How many projects have they done that are similar to yours?
  • How many projects have they delivered overall?
  • Have they dealt with clients that are of a similar scale to your company?

2. More importantly, your consultant must know and understand the relevant technology very well and importantly relate it to the business objectives of an organization.

  • How many complex technology projects have they delivered so far?
  • How much experience does the firm have in the specified technology vertical?
  • What are their customer success stories?

      3. Quality of service offered; what more can they do for you apart from what you really need them to do.

Last but not the least, remember to always dig deeper and find out how serious the consultant is about their specific technology practice e.g. Salesforce.com practice. Are they largely dedicated to Salesforce or not? You’ll be surprised to find that some of the larger consultant setups have small teams truly dedicated to Salesforce.

In a nutshell, a good consultant must have the following basic skills:

  • Ability to convince the customer well and understand what the customer wants.
  • Knowledgeable in product from a business and technical point of view.
  • Ability to give an industry background.
